Boko Haram attack Ngoshe Borno has left soldiers dead, civilians displaced, and more than 100 women and children abducted following a coordinated assault on a military base and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Ngoshe town, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Boko Haram Attack Ngoshe Borno Military Base

The Boko Haram attack Ngoshe Borno reportedly occurred shortly after residents broke their Ramadan fast on Wednesday. Armed insurgents stormed the 82 Division Task Force Battalion base, overpowering troops after heavy gunfire.

Security sources revealed that at least nine soldiers were killed during the confrontation, although the exact casualty figure remains under verification. The attackers allegedly set fire to armoured vehicles and military equipment before carting away weapons and ammunition.

According to reports by Daily Trust and Punch Newspapers, the insurgents simultaneously launched an assault on the nearby IDP camp, causing panic among displaced residents.

Chaos in Ngoshe: Boko Haram Attack Shakes Borno Community

Abduction of Women and Children

Eyewitnesses stated that during the Boko Haram attack Ngoshe Borno, more than 100 women and children were abducted. Survivors described how the gunmen moved through homes and surrounding bushes, chasing fleeing civilians.

The Chief Imam of the community was also reportedly killed, deepening the tragedy in the already fragile town.

Thousands of residents have since fled to Pulka and surrounding communities for safety. The attack is considered devastating, especially as many families had only recently returned under government resettlement programs.

Political and Military Response

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, confirmed the Boko Haram attack Ngoshe Borno and condemned the killings and abductions.

He called for intensified military operations in the Sambisa Forest and Mandara Mountains, long regarded as insurgent strongholds. Ndume urged the Federal Government to deploy advanced weaponry, surveillance systems, and attack helicopters to prevent further large-scale assaults.

He also referenced ongoing counter-insurgency efforts such as Operation Hadin Kai, which is aimed at dismantling Boko Haram and ISWAP networks across northeastern Nigeria.

Impact on Civilians and Resettlement Plans

The Boko Haram attack NgosheBorno has forced fresh displacement across the region. Many of those affected were returnees from Cameroon who had recently begun rebuilding their lives.

Humanitarian sources warn that renewed attacks on resettled communities could undermine recovery efforts and discourage displaced families from returning home.

Local leaders have appealed for urgent humanitarian assistance, including food supplies, medical care, and temporary shelter for affected families.

Ongoing Security Challenges in Borno State

Security analysts note that the Boko Haram attack Ngoshe Borno highlights persistent security gaps despite years of military operations. Insurgents continue to demonstrate the capacity to coordinate high-impact attacks on military formations and civilian settlements.

Authorities maintain that operations will continue across vulnerable areas of Borno State to prevent further escalation.
