A petition has been submitted to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, calling for an investigation into alleged aviation security and regulatory violations involving Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The petition, dated July 12, 2026, was also copied to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). It was reportedly written by someone claiming to be an employee in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
The petitioner alleged that a female media aide to Obi, who was previously banned by Air Peace over alleged misconduct at airports, continued to travel by booking flights under different names to evade the restriction.
It further claimed that Obi allegedly facilitated the bookings and accompanied the aide on several domestic flights despite the alleged use of false identities.
The petition also accused airport security personnel of being prevented from carrying out routine identity checks whenever the pair travelled together, saying some officials were stopped from completing standard verification procedures.
According to the petitioner, flight tickets and Passenger Name Record (PNR) details have been attached as evidence to support the allegations and assist the authorities in their investigation.
The allegations contained in the petition have not been independently verified, and there has been no public response from Peter Obi or the individuals and agencies mentioned at the time of filing.
