Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for all residents, regardless of religion or ethnic background.
Fubara made the pledge in a goodwill message to Muslims across Rivers State and Nigeria to mark Eid ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
The governor urged Muslims to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings of peace, compassion, tolerance, selflessness and service to humanity.
According to him, embracing these values would help promote unity, harmony and positive change across society.
Fubara also celebrated the religious diversity of Rivers State, describing the peaceful coexistence of Christians, Muslims and people of other faiths as one of the state’s greatest strengths.
“In Rivers State, we are proud of our diversity and the spirit of unity that binds Christians, Muslims, and people of all faiths together,” he said.
He commended the Muslim community for its contributions to the peace and development of the state.
The governor urged residents to continue promoting tolerance, understanding and peaceful coexistence across religious and ethnic lines.
He said his administration remained committed to inclusive governance, stressing that every Rivers resident deserves access to peace, security and opportunities to thrive.
Fubara also prayed for blessings, good health, prosperity and continued peace for Muslims and the people of Rivers State.
“May our shared values of compassion, forgiveness, and unity guide us in our daily lives,” he added.
As Muslims across Nigeria celebrate Eid ul-Mawlid, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to unity, equal treatment and shared prosperity in Rivers State.
