Fenway Sports Group (FSG) has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement for the sale of a minority equity stake in Liverpool Football Club to 1892 Holdings.
The consortium is led and managed by Amit Bhatia and includes investments from Amit Bhatia and the Mittal Family Trusts, K5 Sports (a K5 Global Fund) with Jeff Bezos as the lead investor, and EE Capital, the family office of Elaine and Eduardo Saverin.
FSG will retain majority ownership and operational control of Liverpool FC. The strategic investment is intended to support the club’s long-term growth ambitions by bringing together expertise from global business, technology and investment.
Mike Gordon, President of FSG, said the decision aligns with Liverpool’s long-term philosophy and that the consortium shares an appreciation for what makes the club special. Amit Bhatia, speaking on behalf of 1892 Holdings, expressed pride in partnering with FSG and supporting the club’s continued success.
The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
The involvement of high-profile investors, including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has drawn significant attention and is expected to strengthen Liverpool’s position both on and off the pitch.
