Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has reshuffled his cabinet, removing two commissioners and accepting the resignation of another as part of efforts to strengthen governance in the final months of his administration.
The development was announced on Friday in a statement by the Governor’s Media Aide, Mukhtar Gidado. He said the changes are aimed at improving service delivery before the end of the governor’s tenure.
The commissioners removed from the State Executive Council are Mohammed Salis Gamawa, Commissioner for Commerce, Industries and Investment, and Dr. Mohammed Lawal Rimin Zayam, who was recently redeployed from the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.
Governor Mohammed also accepted the resignation of Hon. Faruk Mustapha, the former Commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties.
Following the vacancies, the governor has forwarded the names of new commissioner nominees to the Bauchi State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
Gidado said the move is intended to ensure continuity, efficiency and effective governance, adding that the appointments will fill both the newly created vacancies and those left by earlier exits from the cabinet.
He described the reshuffle as a routine administrative exercise aimed at strengthening government performance, dismissing any suggestion of internal crisis within the administration.
Governor Mohammed also praised the outgoing commissioners for their service and contributions to the development of Bauchi State, wishing them success in their future endeavours.
The Bauchi State House of Assembly is expected to begin screening the nominees before they are confirmed and sworn into office. With less than a year left in office, the governor hopes the reshaped cabinet will help deliver on his administration’s remaining priorities.
