FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has made a candid confession about his prayer life, admitting that he does not know how to pray well.
Speaking during a recent engagement in Abuja, Wike the factional PDP henchman said:
“That’s why every morning I tell my wife she prays a lot, I don’t know how to pray well. My own prayer is ‘God let me come back home safely.”
He went on to explain the importance of his wife’s prayers, particularly for divine favour and support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“You can be a Minister, but without the President’s support, you won’t perform well… But I tell her: keep praying that President Tinubu will not look away from us.”
Wike’s remarks highlight his belief that presidential backing is crucial for effective performance in government. He emphasised that he relies heavily on spiritual support from his wife while keeping his own prayers simple and focused on safety.
The outspoken minister’s comments have drawn varied reactions online. While some found his honesty refreshing and relatable, others saw it as a public display of loyalty to President Tinubu.
Wike, who has been one of the most visible and active ministers in the Tinubu administration, continues to play a key role in the development of the Federal Capital Territory. His latest statement further underscores the strong working relationship he claims to have with the President.
The FCT Minister’s openness about his personal prayer life and dependence on presidential support has sparked conversations about faith, governance, and leadership in Nigeria.
