Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Reacts to Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago Death
The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed profound grief over the death of former Commissioner for Finance and distinguished academic, Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago.
Professor Dandago passed away on Wednesday 4th March at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital after a brief illness.
In an official statement released by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor described the late scholar as a principled public servant whose impact on governance and academia remains indelible.
According to the governor, Dandago’s dedication, intellectual depth, and integrity earned him admiration across Kano State and beyond. He emphasized that the state has lost a seasoned professional whose experience significantly strengthened public administration and higher education.
Governor Yusuf extended condolences to the bereaved family, members of the academic community, and the people of Kano State. He prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the late professor’s shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, while also granting his loved ones the strength to endure the loss.

Confirmation from Bayero University
The death of Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago was also confirmed by Lamara Garba, Director of Information at Bayero University Kano, where the deceased served as a Professor of Accounting and Taxation.
Garba described the announcement as deeply saddening, noting that Professor Dandago had recently supported an appeal fund established to assist families of deceased colleagues.
He further revealed that the late academic had been invited as a discussant at a Ramadan lecture organized by the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) just days before his passing.
