An Abuja High Court has awarded ₦125,000 in costs against Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck after his lawyer requested an adjournment in an ongoing assault and battery lawsuit filed by Ogbogiri Okey Levi, popularly known as Kraziecent.
Justice J.O.E. Adeyemi-Ajayi imposed the cost on Wednesday after the rapper’s counsel, Mr Ikenna Magnus, sought more time to prepare for cross-examination and defence.
The judge subsequently adjourned the case until October 27 and 29 for further proceedings.
At the resumed hearing, Kraziecent’s lawyer, Mr Uchenna Ojembe, told the court that his witness was present and ready to testify.
However, Magnus requested another date, explaining that he had only recently taken over the case and needed adequate time to prepare.
Ojembe opposed the application, accusing the defence of employing delay tactics. He urged the court to consider the consequences of another adjournment and sought ₦5 million in costs.
Despite the objection, the defence counsel appealed for leniency. Justice Adeyemi-Ajayi subsequently awarded ₦125,000 against the rapper over the adjournment request.
The lawsuit was filed by Kraziecent, who accused Odumodublvck, whose real name is Tochukwu Ojogwu, of assaulting him at a public event in December 2024.
The claimant alleged that the incident damaged his iPhone 15 Pro Max and caused him emotional distress.
Kraziecent is seeking reimbursement for medical expenses and a public apology from the rapper. He wants the apology published on Odumodublvck’s social media platforms and in two national newspapers.
Alternatively, he is demanding ₦2 billion in damages over the alleged assault and its consequences.
The court’s latest decision relates to the adjournment request and does not determine the merits of the assault and battery allegations, which remain before the court.
Proceedings are expected to continue on October 27 and 29, when the parties are scheduled to advance with cross-examination and defence.
