Entertainment mogul Tyler Perry has revealed that he has no plans to get married, saying the financial and emotional consequences of divorce have shaped his decision.
The 57-year-old filmmaker made the disclosure during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show while promoting his latest film, Why Did I Get Married Again?
Perry said his concern is not marriage itself but the possibility of divorce.
“I’m never marrying,” he said, adding that he had watched several successful people lose substantial wealth after their marriages ended.
According to Perry, seeing the impact of divorce on people around him convinced him that remaining single offers greater peace and financial independence.
He stressed that his decision does not mean he has rejected love or companionship.
Instead, Perry said he is choosing a lifestyle that allows him to protect his personal freedom and avoid the potential complications of divorce.
The revelation is notable given Perry’s long association with stories about marriage, relationships and family, including Why Did I Get Married? and Why Did I Get Married Too?
Perry also said turning 57 has changed his priorities, prompting him to slow down and reduce his demanding production schedule.
The billionaire entertainment figure said he wants to spend more time with his 11-year-old son, Aman, whom he shares with his former partner, Gelila Bekele.
Looking ahead, Perry said he intends to embrace a quieter lifestyle and focus more on fatherhood and personal enjoyment.
He also revealed plans to relocate to Puerto Rico in early 2027 as he begins what he described as a new chapter of his life.
