Broda Shaggi Hospitalised After Gunshot Injury: What Happened Under the Bridge
Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggi, was on location with his production crew beneath the Sango-Ota bridge when the shooting occurred. The circumstances surrounding exactly how the gun was discharged remain unclear, and investigators are yet to provide a definitive explanation. What is certain is that the comedian took a bullet to the thigh and his crew did not waste a second getting him to safety.
He was rushed immediately to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where emergency treatment was administered. He was subsequently transferred to Duchess International Hospital in the Government Residential Area of Ikeja, where he is currently receiving further medical care and recuperating.
Police Confirm the Incident
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed their involvement after the hospital alerted authorities upon receiving a gunshot victim. Officers and detectives were deployed to the facility, where they identified the patient as the popular skit maker. Lagos Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed that officers found him on a stretcher with a wound to his thigh, and noted that since the incident occurred in Sango-Ota, it falls outside Lagos State’s jurisdiction though enquiries are still ongoing.
The Ogun State Police Command, for its part, said the incident had not been formally reported to them. Broda Shaggi’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu (known as Penzaar), had not responded to media enquiries at the time of this report.
Fans and Celebrities React
News of the shooting spread rapidly across Nigerian social media, with fans and fellow entertainers flooding the comments sections with prayers and get-well messages. Many expressed disbelief that a comedy shoot could end in such a frightening manner, while others called for greater safety protocols on Nigerian film and content production sets.
Broda Shaggi, known for his hilarious street-themed skits and larger-than-life performances, is one of Nigeria’s most recognisable faces in the digital entertainment space. His fans are anxiously awaiting an official update on his condition from his management team.
