Nigerian singer and pastor, Oluwabankole Wellington also referred to as Banky W has opened up on some aspect of his personal life bothering on his marriage and fertility, describing watching his wife, actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, endure repeated failed IVF cycles as one of the most humbling experiences of his life.

Speaking on the Teju Babyface Show published on Thursday, April 30, 2026, Banky W noted that the ordeal revealed a profound inner strength in her that he believes far surpasses his own. He shared how the fertility struggle significantly reshaped his perspective on their union and continues to inform the way he approaches his role as a husband today.

“In our journey to having children, I’ve seen her endure things that would break people,” Banky W said during the sit-down. He recalled the emotional and physical toll of trying to conceive their second son, Hezekiah, through multiple IVF cycles that initially proved unsuccessful.

He described how Adesua would consistently find the strength to get back on her feet, administering her own injections and remaining resilient despite the heartbreak of failed procedures. The singer admitted that witnessing her silent bravery made it impossible for him to complain about domestic responsibilities, such as cooking, which he now handles regularly as a tribute to her sacrifices.

The interview highlighted a broader pattern of selflessness that Banky W has witnessed from Adesua throughout their marriage. He revealed that she frequently put her thriving acting career on pause during various seasons to focus entirely on their family’s pursuit of children. “I’ve seen her put her career on pause… What more can you ask of a wife and a mother than that?” he remarked.

The couple, who spent nearly eighteen months in friendship before officially dating, celebrated their quick engagement just four and a half months after making their relationship official on October 1st several years prior. Banky W joked that while he was “toasting,” she was not “roasting” for a long time, but once they committed, they knew they had found their lifelong partners.

Adesua Etomi-Wellington, who was present during the emotional interview, acknowledged the complexities of their journey, admitting that while their marriage is strong, it has not always been easy. The couple’s fertility battle eventually led to the birth of their first son, Zaiah, in 2021, followed by their second son, Hezekiah, in late 2024. Banky W emphasized that these difficult seasons served to draw them closer to God rather than driving them apart. He believes their “wait for children” was a spiritual refining process that solidified their faith and their bond as a couple.
