Iran has warned Gulf countries against providing assistance or logistical support to US forces operating from regional military bases.
Iran’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff, Ali Abdollahi, issued the warning on Wednesday, according to Mehr news agency.
He said any assistance or facilitation given to US forces would amount to participation in American military operations against Iran.
Abdollahi also questioned whether Gulf states could be unaware of the scale of US military activity in the region.
He said the presence of large numbers of American military aircraft, particularly refuelling planes, at regional bases was unlikely to happen without the knowledge of host countries.
The Iranian military chief specifically addressed Gulf nations that have previously said they would not allow their territories to be used for attacks against Iran.
He insisted that Tehran was aware of developments in the region despite those assurances.
The warning comes amid continued military tensions between Iran and the United States following US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28.
Iran responded with missile and drone strikes, including attacks targeting US military positions across the region.
Meanwhile, the USS George Washington aircraft carrier is being redeployed to the Middle East to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln.
The movement highlights Washington’s continued military presence in the region as tensions with Tehran remain high.
Iran’s latest warning signals that Tehran could hold Gulf states responsible if it believes they are facilitating American military operations.
The development is likely to further increase tensions across the Persian Gulf as US military assets continue to operate in the region.
