A new social media platform known as Twitter Now also referred to as Twitter 2 has officially launched, seeking to revive the classic Twitter branding and compete with X.
The startup behind the platform, Operation Bluebird, has launched twitter.now, using the familiar Twitter bird logo and branding. The company claims that X abandoned its rights to the Twitter trademarks after the 2023 rebrand from Twitter to X.
The launch follows a tentative court ruling in April 2026 in which a judge indicated that X may have abandoned rights to the terms “tweet,” the bird logo, and possibly the name “Twitter.” No final written order has yet been issued, and X is actively suing to block the new platform.
Twitter 2 is currently available in paid early access starting at $20. The platform emphasises user-controlled feeds, trust signals and AI-powered fact-checking. It has also clearly stated that it is not affiliated with X Corp.
The development has sparked significant interest and debate across the tech and social media communities, as the new service attempts to reclaim the identity once associated with the original Twitter while positioning itself as an alternative to X.
