The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appealed to all presidential aspirants, party leaders, delegates, and supporters to maintain peace, unity, and discipline ahead of its presidential primaries scheduled for Monday.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi described the upcoming exercise as a critical democratic moment for both the party and Nigerians seeking a credible political alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to the statement, the ADC said it remains the only political party in Nigeria conducting open presidential primaries, insisting that the process reflects its commitment to transparency, internal democracy, national unity, and the rule of law.
The party urged all stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully and responsibly throughout the exercise, stressing that the behavior of members before, during, and after the primaries would demonstrate the leadership culture the party intends to build. Abdullahi noted that while disagreements are natural in democratic contests, the broader goal of rebuilding Nigeria and restoring public confidence in leadership must take priority.
The ADC also assured members that adequate measures had been put in place to guarantee a free, fair, transparent, and credible primary election process. The party added that regardless of the outcome, the exercise should leave the ADC stronger and more united in its mission to provide competent leadership for Nigerians.
