Youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have thrown their weight behind Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, following his appointment as Director of Youth Mobilisation for the party’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
The APC released the full membership of its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council on Saturday, with Olawande assigned the responsibility of coordinating youth mobilisation.
The appointment has received strong backing from APC youth leaders across the country, who described it as a strategic move ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Forum of 37 APC State Youth Leaders, Zaka Nehemiah, the group said Olawande’s experience makes him suitable for the role.
The forum also congratulated Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari on his appointment as Director-General of the campaign council.
It pledged to work with both Yari and Olawande to strengthen the party’s campaign structures and reach voters at the grassroots.
“Olawande’s experience as a former Youth Leader in Ondo State has equipped him with a strong understanding of grassroots mobilisation, youth engagement and political coordination,” the statement said.
The youth leaders said Olawande’s appointment demonstrates the APC’s recognition of young people as important players in the political process.
They said the position would provide an opportunity for young Nigerians to play a greater role in coordinating the party’s 2027 campaign.
The forum claimed to have more than 19,533 youth leaders operating across 17,802 wards, 1,548 local government areas and 109 senatorial districts.
It said its structure covers all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“Our members would deploy their grassroots structures and networks towards effective youth mobilisation and the broader objectives of the Presidential Campaign Council,” the forum said.
The group expressed confidence that Yari’s leadership and Olawande’s youth mobilisation experience would produce a coordinated campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
It said its priority would be to mobilise young voters and strengthen the APC’s presence across communities nationwide.
