President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Enitan will assume office on August 27, 2026, succeeding Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.
Enitan, who is from Osun State, is currently the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education. He is also the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.
He has served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months, with postings to the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.
The Presidency said Enitan brings extensive institutional experience and a strong understanding of the Federal Civil Service to the position.
President Tinubu commended Walson-Jack for her service to the country and the reforms and innovations recorded during her tenure.
He also wished her a successful life after retirement and expressed the nation’s appreciation for her contributions to public service.
Tinubu charged Enitan to consolidate ongoing reforms, strengthen professionalism and improve efficiency across the Civil Service.
The President also urged him to build a professional, merit-driven, accountable and responsive Civil Service capable of delivering the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Enitan was born on December 12, 1966. He attended Ajibode Grammar School, Ibadan, and the College of Arts and Science, Ile-Ife.
He graduated from the University of Lagos in 1988 with a B.Sc. in Finance and Banking.
In 2015, he obtained an M.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Lafia.
