Activist VeryDarkMan has attributed the widespread presence of cows on Nigerian roads to money laundering activities linked to the government.
Speaking at the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference (NBA-AGC) in Port Harcourt during a panel on insecurity and “known gunmen,” he made the controversial claim.
“If you notice, you go around Nigeria, you see cows passing on our roads, you be wondering why so much cows. You know why? It is money laundering, it is the Government,” VeryDarkMan said.
He argued that purchasing cows provides an easy way to move funds because the animals are difficult to trace to specific owners. The statement was delivered emphatically on stage in the presence of police officers and other officials.
VeryDarkman christened Martins Vincent Otse, is a Nigerian social media influencer, human rights and political activist, and philanthropist. He often describes himself as an “online police” and has become a prominent voice in conversations around civil and political rights in Nigeria. He is known for his outspoken condemnation of injustice, corruption, crime and insecurity, frequently using his platform to draw public attention to issues he believes are neglected by authorities.
