Moses Adebisi, the 35-year-old presidential candidate of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), has declared that he is the only candidate capable of defeating Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Adebisi made the claim during a televised interview on Arise TV on Thursday, where he discussed his political ambitions, academic background and the structure he said the DLA had quietly built across the country.
According to him, his decision to contest the presidency was not originally part of his plans.
He said he had focused on grassroots empowerment programmes, particularly initiatives supporting low-income market women and young Nigerians, before pressure from Nigerians encouraged him to enter mainstream politics.
“They beckon on me that you can’t stay in America and think you’re solving Nigeria’s problem,” Adebisi said.
He said the appeal prompted him to return to Nigeria and bring his ideas directly into the political arena.
Adebisi also described himself as a Harvard PhD candidate in Government, Political Thought and History, saying his academic background had strengthened his understanding of nation-building and governance.
“As a 35-year-old Harvard PhD candidate in the United States of America, I decided to pick this responsibility that was brought to me,” he said.
The DLA candidate added that he had travelled to China to study the country’s 1978 economic reforms, visiting Beijing and Shanghai to understand how China achieved rapid economic growth.
He said he also studied aspects of the United States’ liberty agenda to draw lessons for Nigeria’s political and economic development.
Adebisi was particularly critical of the Tinubu administration and the ruling APC, insisting that his party had the capacity to unseat them in 2027.
“The ship and the chariot of the oppressors is about to sink in this country,” he said.
He added that he, “as this Moses,” was the only person with the capacity to defeat the Tinubu-led APC in the 2027 election.
Adebisi said the DLA had adopted what he described as a “submarine approach” in building its political structure.
“We have used our submarine approach to get into the system. They never see us coming,” he said.
According to him, the strategy involved quietly building party structures and grassroots networks across Nigeria without attracting the attention of rival parties or the media.
He also claimed that the DLA was the only political party successfully registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) between 2022 and 2026.
Adebisi said this was despite 171 political associations reportedly applying for registration during the period.
He urged Nigerian youths to become more involved in political decision-making ahead of the 2027 general election.
The 35-year-old candidate presented his campaign as a generational movement, arguing that young Nigerians must take greater responsibility for determining the country’s political future.
Adebisi’s campaign combines grassroots mobilisation, academic credentials and an ambitious promise to defeat the ruling APC.
However, his claims about his ability to unseat Tinubu and the DLA’s alleged political structure will face scrutiny as the 2027 election approaches.
