The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has issued a strong public notice reminding all registered companies of their obligation to include specific details on business letters and official documents.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Commission announced that effective 1st August 2026, it will begin strict enforcement of Sections 304(1), (2), and (1)(c) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020.
Under the law, every company must state in legible characters on its business letters, invoices, quotations, and other official correspondence and it includes the company’s full name and registration number (RC Number), the present forename or initials and surname of every director. Others are any former forename and surname and the nationality of every non-Nigerian director.
The CAC warned that failure to comply with these requirements will attract appropriate sanctions as provided by the Act.
The Commission noted that this directive is part of its ongoing efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and good corporate governance in Nigeria’s business environment.
Companies have been advised to immediately review and update their document templates, letterheads, and official stationery to ensure full compliance before the August 1, 2026 deadline.
This move is expected to enhance traceability, reduce corporate fraud, and improve the overall integrity of business transactions in the country.
The CAC reaffirmed its commitment to building a more resilient and responsive corporate regulatory framework while urging all registered companies to take the notice seriously and align their operations with the provisions of CAMA 2020.
