A senior local government official has been killed following a late-night attack by suspected bandits in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attackers stormed the low-cost housing estate on Thursday night and invaded the home of Alhaji Nasiru Muhammed, the Director of Personnel Management (DPM) of Ngaski Local Government Area.
Muhammed was reportedly shot dead during the attack as the gunmen overpowered residents.
The assailants also abducted his wife and another resident, Maryam, a schoolteacher, before fleeing into the forest.
As of the time of this report, the victims’ whereabouts remain unknown, while no ransom demand has been made.
The incident has heightened fears over insecurity in parts of Kebbi State, with residents calling for increased security patrols to curb further attacks.
