Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has explained why she allowed her ex-husband, Ademidun Ojo, to play a prominent role at their daughter Priscilla Ojo’s wedding.
The actress addressed the issue during a July 2026 appearance on The Morayo Show.
She was asked why her former husband featured so prominently at Priscilla’s lavish wedding to Tanzanian singer Juma Jux despite their long-standing separation.
Iyabo said her children should never suffer because of what happened in her marriage.
According to her, her relationship with her ex-husband is separate from his relationship with their children.
She stressed that Ademidun is alive and has done nothing to deserve being excluded from his daughter’s special day.
The actress revealed that her own parents were separated while she was growing up.
She said that experience influenced her decision to embrace healthy co-parenting.
Iyabo explained that she wanted to break the cycle of family conflict and give her children a better example.
She described involving her ex-husband in the wedding as a deliberate and thoughtful decision.
Iyabo married Ademidun Ojo in 1999 when she was 21 years old.
The marriage produced two children, Festus and Priscilla.
The couple divorced in 2001, shortly after Priscilla was born.
Priscilla and Juma Jux held a series of wedding ceremonies in Nigeria and Tanzania in 2025.
Their wedding attracted celebrities and public attention across both countries.
The couple later welcomed their son, Rakeem, in 2025.
Iyabo said parents should not allow failed marriages to damage their children’s relationships with either parent.
Her comments have been widely praised as a positive example of mature co-parenting after divorce.
