Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau has resigned along with all members of his executive board.
The mass resignation was confirmed by Gusau himself at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday and further verified through an official statement from the federation.
The decision comes amid intense public criticism of the NFF’s performance. The Super Falcons failed to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time, while the Super Eagles also missed consecutive men’s World Cup qualification campaigns. In addition, the federation has faced probes into the handling of government funds allocated to Nigerian football.
Ibrahim Gusau’s resignation marks a significant leadership change at the NFF as stakeholders call for reforms and improved management of the country’s national teams.
The development is expected to trigger a transitional process that will lead to the appointment or election of a new leadership structure for the federation.
