A 37-year-old man identified as Yusuf Adenoyin has been arrested by operatives of the Nigerian Police Force for allegedly being in possession of eight human skulls while travelling along the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.
According to police sources, Adenoyin, a Yoruba indigene from Nigeria, was intercepted during a routine security operation while en route to Lagos. A search conducted on the suspect reportedly led to the discovery of eight human skulls concealed among his belongings.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed that he was transporting the skulls from Ibadan in Oyo State to a native doctor in Osun State. He claimed that the items were meant to be used for money-making rituals, commonly referred to as “juju” or ritual purposes.
The arrest has sparked concerns over the growing incidence of ritual-related crimes and the illegal trade in human body parts across parts of the country.
Police authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the skulls, identify possible accomplices, and uncover the network involved in the alleged ritual activities.
Security officials also stated that efforts are being intensified to apprehend the native doctor and any other individuals connected to the suspected criminal operation.
The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide useful information that could assist law enforcement agencies in combating ritual killings, grave desecration, and other related crimes.
Authorities assured that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
