Popular Nigerian comedian Sabinus, real name Emmanuel Ejekwu, has opened up about his financial status, revealing that he is now “very rich” and creates skits mainly for brand visibility rather than income.
In a recent interview that has gone viral, the comic star, known for his “Odogwu” catchphrase, made the bold declaration, saying, “I use an iPhone to shoot my skits; I’m so rich now that I just do skits to put my face out there, not cuz of money, cuz I have different businesses bringing me money. I can stop skit today, and I won’t ever be broke again.”
Sabinus explained that he has diversified his income streams through various businesses, which now form the backbone of his wealth. He emphasised that content creation is no longer his primary source of income but a platform to stay relevant and promote his personal brand.
The comedian rose to massive fame during the COVID-19 lockdown with his relatable and humorous skits, quickly becoming one of Nigeria’s most followed digital creators. His unique style and business acumen have since turned him into one of the country’s most successful skit makers and influencers.
Sabinus’ statement has generated mixed reactions online. While many fans congratulated him on his success and financial independence, others expressed scepticism, with some questioning the need to publicly emphasise his wealth. However, many of his supporters praised him for his hard work and smart diversification beyond content creation.
The comedian has previously spoken about his entrepreneurial ventures, including investments in different sectors, which he says have paid off significantly.
Sabinus remains one of the most influential voices in Nigeria’s digital entertainment space. His journey from a struggling comedian to a self-made millionaire continues to inspire many young content creators across the country.
