A lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, is currently on the run after students allegedly caught him in a compromising position with a female student.
According to unverified reports circulating on social media, the lecturer, identified as Revd Cornelius Eze Chidiebere Lu of the Biology Department, jumped out of a window and fled half-naked when students confronted him.
Viral videos and photos show a woman in a floral dress running through a hallway and a man in a state of undress escaping through overgrown fields near campus buildings. A “wanted” poster shared by students labels him a rapist and calls for information on his whereabouts.
Students have accused the lecturer of terrorising and sexually harassing female students in the department. They have reportedly filed a formal complaint with the Vice Chancellor of the university.
As of the time of this report, the university management has not issued any official statement regarding the incident, and no formal confirmation has been made about the identity of the lecturer or the exact circumstances of the event.
The development has sparked outrage among students and netizens, with many calling for a thorough investigation into allegations of sexual harassment within the institution.
This incident adds to ongoing concerns about the safety of female students in Nigerian tertiary institutions and the need for stronger mechanisms to address cases of sexual misconduct by staff.
The university authorities are yet to comment on the matter.
