Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a women’s support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), The Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), has announced plans to organise weekly intercessory prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The APC National Women Leader, Dr Mary Idele, disclosed this during the commissioning of the TTB National Secretariat on Tuesday.
Idele said the prayer sessions would involve ordained female ministers, Royal Sisters, prayer networks, and the Northern Muslim Women Assembly.
She explained that the initiative was aimed at seeking spiritual guidance and support for the President and his administration, especially as the country moves towards another election cycle.
According to her, the prayers would focus on the nation and the success of the Renewed Hope administration, noting that divine direction remained important alongside policies and strategies.
She described The Tinubu Torchbearers as a grassroots mobilisation platform created to promote the achievements of the Tinubu administration and strengthen public support for its programmes.
Idele said the group’s mission was to ensure that Nigerians at the grassroots understand government policies and become active participants in what she called the Renewed Hope journey.
The APC women leader also revealed that the newly commissioned secretariat would house a Situation Room equipped to monitor and coordinate election activities across Nigeria’s 176,846 polling units.
She added that the facility would serve as the operational centre for TTB’s nationwide activities, including coordination, administration, and campaign efforts.
Representing First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu at the event, Minister of Women Affairs Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim performed the official commissioning of the secretariat.
Idele assured the First Lady of the group’s commitment to spreading the message of the administration’s achievements and mobilising support across communities, wards, local governments, and states.
