Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has sparked widespread debate after making strong remarks about the entertainment industry during a recent interview.
In a podcast appearance on The Joey Akan Experience, the veteran actor described the industry as a major enabler of negative spiritual influences.
“There’s no bigger enabler than entertainment. This is where demons live. Entertainment is totally orchestrated and created to extol the virtues of Satanism…What in the entertainment glorifies God except you intentionally or consciously go for Him or pursue Him or find your place with Him,” Jim Iyke said.

The actor’s comments have generated mixed reactions online, with some praising him for speaking what they believe is the truth about moral decadence and spiritual manipulation in the industry; in contrast, others have criticised him for generalising and being overly dramatic.
Jim Iyke, known for his long-standing career in Nollywood and his outspoken nature, has in recent years become more vocal about faith, spirituality, and societal issues. His latest statement aligns with a growing trend of some Nigerian celebrities who publicly discuss the darker spiritual side of the entertainment industry.
While many in the industry have dismissed such claims as conspiracy theories, others have shared similar experiences, contributing to ongoing conversations about morality, fame, and spiritual warfare in showbiz.
Social media has been divided since the clip surfaced. Supporters hailed Jim Iyke for his boldness, with comments such as “He’s speaking facts” and “The industry is really dark.” Critics, however, accused him of using religion to stay relevant or tarnishing the image of an industry that has provided livelihoods for many.
This is not the first time a Nigerian celebrity has made such claims. Similar statements have been made by other artistes in the past, often generating heated debates between believers and sceptics
As one of Nollywood’s biggest stars, Jim Iyke’s words carry weight and are likely to fuel further discussions about the spiritual undertones of the entertainment business in Nigeria.
