Marc Skinner has left his role as head coach of Manchester United Women by mutual agreement, just one month before the start of the 2026/27 Women’s Super League season.
The 43-year-old took charge of the team in 2021, succeeding Casey Stoney. He departs after five years in charge, having overseen one of the club’s most successful periods.
Skinner guided United to their first major women’s trophy, winning the FA Cup with a 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the 2024 final.
He also led the team to three consecutive FA Cup finals between 2023 and 2025. In the 2022/23 campaign, United finished second in the WSL to qualify for the Women’s Champions League for the first time.
Last season, the club reached the quarter-finals of the Women’s Champions League, marking another major achievement under Skinner.
His exit follows internal discussions over squad investment and the club’s transfer strategy, which is now focused on building a long-term team around homegrown talent.
In a statement released on Monday, Manchester United thanked Skinner for his professionalism, commitment and contribution to the growth of the women’s team during his time at the club.
