Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved the release of ₦1.3 billion for the payment of bursaries to eligible students across the state.
The Governor has also approved a significant increase in the bursary award from ₦20,000 to ₦50,000 per beneficiary, providing greater financial relief to students and their families.
This landmark decision underscores Governor Eno’s commitment to easing the financial burden on students, expanding access to quality education, and investing in human capital development.
The enhanced bursary scheme is expected to benefit thousands of students in tertiary institutions across Akwa Ibom State. The payment will be disbursed to eligible beneficiaries in the coming weeks.
Governor Eno’s administration has consistently prioritised education and youth development, with several initiatives aimed at supporting students and creating opportunities for young people in the state.
This latest intervention is seen as a major boost for indigent students, especially amid the current economic realities facing many families.
The Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, who announced the approval, described it as another demonstration of the Governor’s dedication to building a future of opportunities for all Akwa Ibom people.
The increased bursary is expected to reduce dropout rates, support academic excellence, and contribute to the overall development of the state’s education sector.
