Ifeanyi Okowa, the immediate past Governor of Delta State has declared his intention to leave the People Democratic Party – PDP.
Okowa was a running mate to Atiku Abubakar a former Nigeria Vice President who vie for Presidential election on the platform of the People Democratic Party PDP in 2023.
Atiku Abubakar scored 6,984,520 votes and he was defeated by Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Party APC who scored 8,794,726 votes
Ifeanyi Okowa who was Abubakar running mate in a viral video, sparking widespread speculation has informed his supporters that he leaving PDP.
They’re speculations that Okowa is walking away from PDP to jump into the moving APC train.
In the video, Okowa reassured his supporters that the decision would be in their best interest, saying, “We will take the best direction, the best path for our people”, he promised.
Though he did not explicitly name the APC as his next political party, this comes amid growing political shifts in Delta, particularly after the incumbent Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is publicly showing support for President Tinubu.
