Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has inaugurated a 17-member Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee to reconcile aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committee, inaugurated on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, is chaired by former Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Ichala Wada.
Ododo said the committee’s mandate was to resolve internal disputes, restore unity and strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 polls.
The governor said dialogue and consultation remained his preferred methods of resolving political disagreements, urging the committee to listen to aggrieved members and stakeholders.
“We are members of the same family. Whatever differences we have had must give way to the greater interest of the party and the state.”
The committee has three weeks to complete its assignment and submit recommendations. Its responsibilities include identifying the causes of internal disputes, mapping aggrieved stakeholders and proposing lasting solutions.
It is also expected to develop a continuous reconciliation plan, compile unresolved disputes, recommend ways to reintegrate returning members and provide a framework for accommodating new entrants.
The final report will contain recommendations for sustaining unity, expanding the APC’s support base and strengthening its grassroots structure.
Ododo said the initiative was timely as the APC prepares for the 2027 elections, noting that the party has dominated Kogi politics since 2015.
He also urged party members to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Wada thanked the governor for the confidence placed in the committee and promised that members would immediately begin work to reconcile aggrieved stakeholders.
Former Deputy Governor Edward Onoja, who serves as the committee’s Second Vice Chairman, also pledged the members’ commitment to achieving lasting unity.
