Nigerian singer Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, has narrowly escaped what sources describe as a coordinated assassination attempt in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The incident, which has sent shockwaves across Nigeria’s entertainment and political landscape, occurred in broad daylight near Okefia, close to the Osun State Government House.
According to B-Red’s account, the attack unfolded while he was returning from a routine shopping trip around the Alekuwodo market area. He noticed a group of motorcycle riders wearing AMBO caps attempting to surround his vehicle at a traffic stop beneath the Okefia Bridge
The situation quickly escalated when a white Toyota Venza joined the scene and began pursuing his vehicle.
“As I went out to buy some stuff around Alekuwodo market, I just saw some Okada riders with AMBO caps trying to surround my vehicle at a traffic point under Okefia Bridge,” B-Red narrated.
“As we tried to move out, we saw a white Toyota Venza approaching, and someone shouted, ‘It is him, it is him.'”
The chasing continued until we got to the gate of the Osun State Government House.”
B-Red revealed he recognised one of the attackers, identifying him as a known political thug
The chase only ended when his vehicle reached the safety of the Government House gate
The matter has since been formally reported to the police for investigation
The Osun State Government swiftly condemned the attack and called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
In an official statement, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Olumo Kolapo Alimi, urged security agencies to act without delay, describing the incident as unacceptable and an affront to public safety.
The government’s response underscores growing concerns about politically motivated violence in the state, particularly given B-Red’s high-profile identity as both a public entertainer and the son of sitting Governor Ademola Adeleke.
This incident adds to a troubling pattern of security threats targeting prominent individuals linked to the Adeleke political dynasty in Osun State.
