The Edo State Government has renewed its crackdown on cultism and violent crime across the state.
Authorities also reminded business owners to install CCTV cameras before the July 31 deadline.
The warning followed the arrest of two suspects allegedly found with illegal firearms in Uromi and Auchi.
The suspects, Muhammed Oakumhe and Omukoro Aghogho, were reportedly caught with two pump-action guns.
They were arrested during separate operations by a security team led by the Principal Security Officer to Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The suspects were presented to journalists on Monday by Noah Idemudia, spokesman for the Edo State Security Squad, Operation Flush Out Kidnappers and Cultism.
Idemudia said the arrests were made following credible intelligence.
He stressed that security agencies would not tolerate activities capable of disrupting public peace.
The government warned against any cult-related gatherings or celebrations linked to July 7.
Idemudia urged anyone planning unlawful activities to abandon such plans immediately.
He warned that anyone arrested would face the full weight of the law.
Residents were also encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies.
The government confirmed that enforcement of the CCTV directive will begin after July 31.
From August 1, all business premises are expected to have functional CCTV cameras installed.
Officials said the surveillance initiative will improve crime prevention and assist investigations.
The state also plans to work with traditional institutions to profile community youth leaders and strengthen local intelligence.
Authorities believe the collaboration will help identify criminal elements before they strike.
