The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that clearance from the National Electronic Registration Database (NERD) is now mandatory for the mobilisation of prospective corps members.
The new requirement is part of efforts to enhance the integrity of the NYSC mobilisation process, reduce fraud, and ensure that only eligible graduates are deployed for national service.
According to the scheme as seen on it’s official X account, all prospective corps members must now obtain NERD clearance before they can be mobilised for the mandatory one-year national service.

This development is expected to streamline the registration and deployment process while minimising cases of impersonation and other irregularities that have been reported in the past.
The NYSC urged all eligible graduates to visit the NERD portal or designated centres to complete their clearance as early as possible to avoid any delays in their mobilisation.
This policy is in line with the Federal Government’s broader digital transformation agenda in public service delivery.
