The Ogun State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and recovered six stolen cows during separate operations carried out within 24 hours.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed the successes in a statement on Tuesday, saying officers responded swiftly to distress calls in both incidents.
In the first operation, officers of the Sagamu Division arrested two suspects, Abiodun Kamilu, 35, and Adesanya Segun, 37, over the theft of seven cows from a cattle yard in the Maskoli area of Sagamu.
The theft was reported in the early hours of July 25, 2026. Police quickly launched coordinated patrols and intercepted suspicious vehicles along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway.
The operation led to the arrest of the suspects, the recovery of six stolen cows, and the seizure of a vehicle allegedly used by the suspects. Efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining cow and arrest other members of the gang.
In a separate operation on July 26, officers of the Safer Highway Patrol Team responded to gunshots at Onigaari along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while on routine patrol.
According to the police, the officers’ quick response forced the suspected kidnappers to flee into a nearby bush, abandoning their victim.
The victim was rescued unharmed and taken, along with his vehicle, to the Ogunmakin Police Post for safety and further procedures. Police said calm has since returned to the area while the suspects remain at large.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers for their professionalism and bravery, saying the operations demonstrate the command’s commitment to tackling crime across the state.
He assured residents that the command would continue to strengthen intelligence gathering, visibility policing, and strategic patrols. He also urged the public to provide timely and credible information to support security efforts.
