Roby Ekpo Rejects Mayowa Lambe’s ₦100 Million Lawsuit — What You Need to Know

Nigerian Master of Ceremonies, On-Air Personality, and actor Roby Ekpo has firmly rejected a ₦100 million legal demand from his estranged wife, Mayowa Lambe, over comments he made during a viral podcast appearance. The story, which began as a deeply personal account of a broken marriage, has now escalated into one of the most talked-about celebrity legal battles in Nigeria right now.

How It All Started: The Honest Bunch Podcast

The controversy erupted after Roby Ekpo appeared on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, where he gave an emotional and detailed account of the collapse of his eleven-year marriage to Mayowa Lambe.

Speaking candidly, Ekpo claimed that he discovered his wife had remarried another man in Texas, United States without him being officially informed of any divorce.

“After 11 years of marriage, I woke up to videos and pictures of my wife on Instagram getting married to another man.” Roby Ekpo

He went further to allege that Mayowa had secretly used contraceptives throughout their marriage, while he spent years visiting hospitals believing he had a fertility problem. He also claimed she deceived him about the purpose of a trip to Miami, telling him she was going for a procedure to help her conceive, when he alleged she actually went for a BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) surgery.

Ekpo also spoke about years of long-distance financial support, saying he regularly sent money to Mayowa during her years abroad even funding her return trip to Nigeria in 2025 only to be received coldly at the airport.

“Mayowa travelled for six years; with the little money I was earning, I was sending money to Mayowa every time. I was sending flowers.” Roby Ekpo

His emotional breakdown quickly went viral, dividing public opinion across Nigerian social media.

Mayowa Lambe Fires Back: The ₦100 Million Cease-and-Desist

In swift response, Mayowa Lambe through the legal department of Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation, signed by K. Umoh Esq. and dated April 22, 2026 served Roby Ekpo a formal cease-and-desist notice.

The notice demanded that Ekpo:

  • Immediately stop making any further defamatory statements about her
  • Delete all related content across his social media platforms
  • Issue a public retraction and apology on the same platforms used to spread the claims
  • Pay ₦100,000,000 (One Hundred Million Naira) in damages

Ekpo was given a strict 48-hour deadline to comply, with warnings of immediate legal action including claims for aggravated damages, injunctive relief, and possible criminal complaints if he failed to do so.

Lambe’s legal team disputed the entire foundation of Ekpo’s narrative, stating that their traditional marriage had been “mutually terminated with the full knowledge and consent of both families prior to May 11, 2025,” and that no valid marital relationship existed after that date. They further accused Ekpo of running a “deliberate and sustained campaign of falsehood” designed to mislead the public and generate sympathy at Mayowa’s expense.

According to her legal representatives, Mayowa possesses verifiable evidence including financial records, medical and fertility documentation, and communications that directly contradict Ekpo’s claims.

Roby Ekpo Hits Back: “I Can Defend Myself in Court”

Roby Ekpo did not back down. Through his lawyers at Tap Legal Services, represented by counsel Mbasekei Obono, he issued a counter-notice firmly rejecting all of Mayowa’s demands.

His legal team stated that his comments were based on his personal experiences and were not made with any malicious intent. They also warned that if Mayowa proceeds with legal action, Roby is fully prepared to file appropriate counterclaims including claims for harassment, intimidation, and reputational harm. His lawyers further hinted that he reserves the right to report certain matters to United States immigration authorities, including the USCIS.

“Your letter is noted; however, it is replete with assertions that are themselves disputed and will be rigorously challenged. At no time did he act with malice or with the intent to injure your client’s reputation.” Mbasekei Obono, Roby Ekpo’s Counsel

Who Is Roby Ekpo?

For those unfamiliar, Roby Ekpo is a well-known Nigerian entertainment personality. He is a professional Master of Ceremonies, On-Air Personality at Hit 95.9 FM, actor, and brand influencer. He has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most engaging event hosts and media voices over the years.

Who Is Mayowa Lambe?

Mayowa Lambe is also a prominent Nigerian media personality, widely recognised for her career as an On-Air Personality, particularly during her time at Wazobia FM. The two met on Instagram in 2015, with Mayowa reportedly sliding into Roby’s DMs, and got married a few months later after a brief courtship.

Public Reaction

The story has dominated Nigerian social media since Roby’s podcast appearance went viral. Reactions have been sharply divided with many sympathising with Ekpo’s emotional account, while others have urged caution, calling for Mayowa’s side of the story to be heard before any conclusions are drawn.

Mayowa, for her part, has largely avoided direct engagement with the public drama, posting messages that suggest she is at peace with her current life and choices.

What Happens Next?

With both parties digging in through legal representatives, it appears this dispute is heading to court. The 48-hour deadline has now passed, and Roby Ekpo’s refusal to comply means Mayowa’s legal team is expected to initiate formal legal proceedings.

What started as a raw, personal podcast confession has now become a full-blown legal battle raising important questions about the fine line between sharing personal truth and defamation in Nigeria’s increasingly public digital space.

We will continue to follow this story as it develops.
