A 40-foot container-laden truck crashed at the exit of Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday morning, causing heavy traffic.
The truck reportedly suffered brake failure while in motion and rammed into road demarcation blocks and six other vehicles.
The crash involved seven vehicles, including a Toyota Hilux, an interstate bus, Hyundai Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, Toyota Highlander and Mitsubishi Hilux.
No deaths or injuries were recorded in the incident.
Emergency responders, including LASEMA, LASTMA and the Nigeria Police Force, were deployed to the scene inward OPIC after a distress call was received at about 6:05am.
LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said preliminary investigations indicated that a mechanical fault caused the truck to lose control.
Private towing trucks were later used to remove the damaged vehicles from the carriageway.
The accident caused severe congestion along the expressway, with traffic reportedly backing up to New Garage.
LASTMA also reported a separate collision on the bridge inward Mowe involving a loaded trailer and an SUV.
The incidents occurred amid ongoing repair works on Kara Bridge.
The Federal Ministry of Works began a two-week maintenance project on September 8 to replace worn-out expansion joints, with the work expected to end on September 22, 2026.
Authorities have urged motorists to drive cautiously and comply with traffic diversions along the busy corridor.
