British actor David Jonsson has been officially cast as the new Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The announcement was made via a video posted on the official Marvel Studios X (formerly Twitter) account, confirming that Jonsson will portray T’Challa’s son in the third Black Panther film.

The upcoming movie, scheduled for release on December 15, 2028, will follow Jonsson’s character as he comes of age and steps into the mantle of the Black Panther.
Ryan Coogler returns to direct the project, while Letitia Wright is also set to reprise her role as Shuri.
This casting marks a significant new chapter for the Black Panther franchise following the passing of Chadwick Boseman. The decision to introduce T’Challa’s son has been highly anticipated by fans eager to see the continuation of the Wakanda saga which seemed to have taken a pause following the passing of Boseman Chadwick, who was first casted as the first Black Panther.
