King Mitchy public apology has taken Nigerian social media by storm. On Thursday, March 13, 2026, influencer and content creator Michelle Mukoro popularly known as King Mitchy dropped a video on Instagram owning up to her actions and tendering a public apology to three prominent figures caught in the crossfire of one of Nigeria’s most dramatic online controversies in recent memory.
King Mitchy Public Apology: What Triggered it.
The drama dates back to late February 2026, when Mitchy went viral after claiming she renovated a dilapidated public school in just six days. The announcement sparked a heated confrontation with outspoken activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), who questioned the source of funding and accused her of being used as a political tool to clean up the image of President Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 elections.
Things spiralled fast. Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu was dragged in after it emerged he had financially supported Mitchy’s NGO activities. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, was also pulled into the mess after alleged WhatsApp chats between him and Mitchy surfaced online, though the palace later denied their authenticity. Mitchy made matters worse when she admitted she did not even know who the Ooni was.
The situation reached its peak when Mitchy was filmed appearing to consume a harmful substance during a live video and a false death announcement was later circulated about her on social media, which a hospital in Abuja quickly denied.
King Mitchy Says Sorry In Her Own Words
In her apology video, Mitchy was direct and unscripted. She began by acknowledging that taking a substance on a live video was a serious error, especially given the number of young girls who look up to her.
She then addressed each party personally. To Seyi Tinubu, she said she had already apologised privately, but chose to do so publicly because the offence had been public. To the Ooni of Ife, she expressed regret for dragging the revered monarch’s name into a controversy that had nothing to do with him. And to VeryDarkMan, she acknowledged the legitimacy of his activism, saying she now understood what he was fighting for and regretted going at him the way she did.

How Nigerians Are Reacting
Reactions have been split. Many Nigerians commended Mitchy for taking accountability publicly, describing the apology as brave and overdue. Others remained skeptical, arguing that the timing coming after weeks of backlash, a lost Instagram account, and a fake death scare raised questions about sincerity.
VeryDarkMan is yet to publicly respond to the apology at the time of this report.
This saga raises bigger questions about the intersection of celebrity influence, political patronage, and online accountability in Nigeria topics that show no sign of cooling down ahead of the 2027 election season.
