The death toll from devastating floods and landslides along the China-Nepal border has risen sharply, with at least 1,287 people confirmed dead in Nepal.
The country’s disaster authority also reported that 5,083 people remain missing following the disaster.
Chinese state media reported 21 deaths and 541 missing people in Tibet, bringing the combined death toll to 1,308, while 5,624 people remain unaccounted for.
The disaster followed a glacial and mountain collapse on August 26, triggering severe flooding and landslides across the affected areas.
More than 800 foreigners are still missing, including trekkers in the Himalayas and pilgrims who had travelled to Mount Kailash in Tibet, a site considered sacred by Hindus and Buddhists.
Meanwhile, at least 17 bodies have been recovered from rivers in India.
Officials believe the bodies may have been swept downstream from Nepal, but they have not been included in the official death toll.
