The Nigerian Army has arrested two serving soldiers for allegedly providing unauthorised security at the traditional wedding of popular TikTok personalities Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, and Jarvis (Amadou Elizabeth Aminata) in Lekki, Lagos.
The arrests were made on Tuesday after intelligence reports alleged that the soldiers participated in an illegal deployment during the celebrity event held over the weekend.
The suspects were identified as Private Onasanya Ifeoluwa and Private Ukpai Onyinyechi, both attached to the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital (81DMSH) in Obalende, Lagos.
A senior military source said the soldiers were arrested following credible intelligence linking them to the unauthorised assignment.
The source added that preliminary investigations are underway to determine the extent of their involvement and identify any other personnel connected to the incident.
Videos from the wedding, which went viral on social media, showed uniformed soldiers controlling access to the venue and providing security for guests.
One of the clips allegedly showed a soldier acting as a bouncer while escorting TikTok personality Ivanna through a crowded section of the venue.
The footage sparked widespread criticism, with many Nigerians questioning why active-duty soldiers were providing security at a private social event instead of carrying out official responsibilities.
Peller and Jarvis’ traditional wedding, tagged #JP2026, attracted celebrities, influencers and large crowds to Lekki. The event also witnessed traffic congestion, reports of phone theft and clashes involving street touts.
Peller later disclosed that some guests whose phones were stolen were compensated. He also announced stricter security measures and tighter attendance rules for the white wedding.
Under military regulations, serving personnel are prohibited from engaging in private security duties without official authorisation.
The Nigerian Army’s action is seen as a move to enforce discipline and protect the integrity of the military. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with more arrests possible if additional personnel are found to be involved.
