Accord Party has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure a free, fair and credible governorship election in Osun State on August 15.
The party described the poll as a major test of INEC’s preparedness for the 2027 general election, saying Nigerians will judge the commission by its performance in Osun.
In a statement, Accord National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, urged INEC to thoroughly test its electoral materials and prevent operational failures or allegations of bias.
He said the commission has another opportunity to strengthen public confidence by conducting a transparent, inclusive and credible election.
Accord also called on security agencies to remain neutral throughout the election and ensure a peaceful voting process.
The party endorsed the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke, praising his administration’s performance in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, workers’ welfare and social development.
It added that the governor sustained development despite challenges, including the withholding of local government allocations, which it said affected grassroots governance.
Accord also warned voters against vote buying, urging them not to exchange their votes for money or other inducements.
