Five people, including a 15-year-old girl, have been charged following the death of a newborn baby in Sheffield, United Kingdom.
The baby girl was found dead at a residential property on Holywell Heights, in the Wincobank area, on Sunday morning.
Police had been called to the house over concerns for the infant’s safety before discovering her body.
South Yorkshire Police said four adults and the teenager have been arrested and charged following an intensive investigation.
Two men, aged 19 and 38, and two women, aged 20 and 37, face charges of murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice.
The 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named under UK law, has been charged with perverting the course of justice.
The suspects have been remanded in custody and are expected to appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.
Those charged are Peter Horvath, 19, of Holywell Heights; Andrea Skopova, 20, formerly of Robey Street; Nina Horvathova, 37, of Holywell Heights; and Peter Horvath, 38, of Holywell Heights, alongside the unnamed teenager.
Police said their investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding the newborn’s death.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the relationship between the suspects or what led to the infant’s death.
Further details are expected to emerge as the case proceeds through the courts.
