The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the opening of applications for its 2026 recruitment exercise for qualified Nigerians seeking to join the Service as tradesmen/women and non-tradesmen/women.
The Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026 recruitment exercise will begin on September 3, 2026, with online registration closing on October 14, 2026.
The NAF made the announcement in a notice posted on its official X handle on Wednesday.
It said the registration is completely free and urged interested applicants to carefully review the eligibility requirements before applying.
Applications are to be submitted through the NAF recruitment portal at nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng.
Age and Height Requirements
Tradesmen/women applicants must be between 18 and 27 years old as of March 1, 2027.
For non-tradesmen/women, applicants must be between 18 and 22 years old by the same date.
All applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and must meet the minimum height requirements.
Male applicants must be at least 1.66 metres tall, while female applicants must be at least 1.63 metres.
Candidates must also be medically, physically and psychologically fit and meet the NAF’s prescribed medical and employment standards.
Educational Requirements
Tradesmen/women applicants with ND or NCE qualifications must obtain their certificates from accredited institutions.
They must also have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS.
Applicants seeking driving positions or trades requiring a Trade Test must possess the relevant Trade Test certificate.
Those applying for driving roles must also have a valid driving licence.
Non-tradesmen/women applicants are required to have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English, in relevant examinations.
They must also possess a Primary School Certificate and Secondary School Testimonial.
Documents and Attestation
Successful applicants will be required to complete an Acknowledgement Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form and Local Government Area Attestation Form.
The attestation form must be signed by an authorised official from the applicant’s state of origin.
Acceptable signatories include a military officer not below the rank of Wing Commander or equivalent, a police officer of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police or above, a substantive local government chairman or secretary, or a magistrate.
The form must also include the applicant’s passport photograph and a photocopy of the signatory’s driver’s licence, National Identity Card or international passport.
Aptitude Test
The NAF said successful applicants will sit for a zonal general aptitude test.
The date and other details will be communicated through the recruitment portal.
Only candidates who pass the aptitude test will proceed to the subsequent interview stage.
The Air Force urged prospective applicants to prepare their documents early and ensure they meet all requirements before submitting their applications.
