The Incorporated Trustees of NNPC/MPN JV Ibeno Host Community Development Trust (IHCDT) has intensified its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts in the health sector with several impactful interventions at the Cottage Hospital Upenekang in Ibeno Local Government Area.
The Trust in a report via its official Facebook page, stated that it believes accessible, high-quality healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege, and has therefore taken concrete steps to support patients and upgrade critical medical infrastructure in the community.
Among the interventions, Ibeno HCDT provided life-altering hearing aids to individuals with hearing impairments and funded the advance payment for a patient’s prosthetic hand.

The Trust also donated a brand-new fleet of wheelchairs and crutches to support local government health campaigns and help patients move with dignity.
In addition, Ibeno HCDT completely reconstructed a 2-unit, 3-bedroom staff quarters equipped with a reliable 6kW solar-powered system to ensure healthcare workers have comfortable accommodation.

To ensure uninterrupted power supply for life-saving equipment, the Trust installed a massive 10kW solar system that now powers the Operating Theatre, Outpatient Department (OPD), and the Male, Female, and Children’s wards.
These initiatives are part of IHCDT’s commitment to empowering healthcare workers and transforming lives through clean energy, modern facilities, and direct patient support.
The interventions at Cottage Hospital Upenekang are expected to significantly improve healthcare delivery in the area and serve as a model for community-driven development in host communities.
The Host Communities Development Trust (HCDT) is a legal mandate established by the 2021 Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) in Nigeria.
It requires oil and gas companies to dedicate 3% of their actual operating expenditures to fund sustainable development, infrastructure, and economic empowerment in their local host communities, aiming to create more structured, community-led development and reduce conflicts
