Former President Goodluck Jonathan has denied claims that he was offered ₦500 billion to contest the 2027 presidential election.
He described the report as “entirely false and baseless.”
The allegation circulated widely on Facebook.
It claimed Jonathan was offered the money to run against Peter Obi and split votes in the South-South region.
Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Media, Ikechukwu Eze, dismissed the report.
He said Jonathan was never approached with any such offer.
Eze also criticized the report for lacking basic journalistic credibility.
According to him, the story did not state where or when the alleged claim was made.
He said it also failed to identify anyone involved in the supposed offer.
Eze described the publication as fake news created to drag Jonathan into unnecessary political controversy.
He stressed that Jonathan never made any statement about receiving money to contest the presidency.
He also denied any plot to undermine any candidate in the 2027 election.
The media aide urged Nigerians to ignore the report.
He advised the public to verify sensational political stories before sharing them.
Eze warned that false information often spreads during election periods to mislead voters.
The denial comes amid ongoing speculation about Jonathan’s political future ahead of the 2027 elections.
His office, however, insisted that the focus remains on correcting false claims rather than engaging in political speculation.
