Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has condemned the discrimination against law graduates of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
Nwifuru urged stakeholders and Nigerians to oppose restrictions preventing qualified NOUN law graduates from gaining admission into the Nigerian Law School.
The governor spoke on Friday during a meeting with the management of NOUN in Abakaliki.
He described NOUN as a federal university with accomplished professionals among its scholars and graduates who are capable of making meaningful contributions to national development.
Nwifuru also challenged the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, to spearhead a strong advocacy campaign against the exclusion of NOUN law graduates.
According to him, denying the graduates access to the Law School undermines the credibility of a federal institution.
He stressed that qualified Nigerians should not be denied opportunities to pursue their chosen professions because of the institution they attended.
